1.Requirement for Presenter
- Membership of the Japanese Society for Developmental Biologists or the Japan Society for Cell Biology is required. If you are a non-member, please complete membership application procedure beforehand.
※Except appointed speakers for Joint Keynote Symposium and Symposia. - You can be a presenter for only one paper through whole programs. However, you can be a co-author for other papers.
2.How to Submit Abstracts Online
1.How to submit
Click “Abstract Submission” button shown at the bottom of this page and enter necessary information.In the process of your abstract submission, you are required to enter your registration ID. If you do not register yet, please complete registration procedure for participation first.
2. Online Submission System
Your abstract is submitted via UMIN system. If you have any questions regarding the system, please refer to the FAQ page in the UMIN system.Necessary information:
- Choose “Apply(Non-PI only)” or “Do not apply(PI / Others (who don't want to be a candidate for Young Presenters Award)” at the [Qualification for JSDB 45th & JSCB 64th Young Presenters Award for Excellent Poster/Oral Presentation] on the Abstract Submission page.
- Choose “D” for Developmental Biology or “C” for Cell Biology at the [Fields]. If your presentation relates both “D” and “C”, or if you are not sure about which field your presentation belongs, you may choose either “D” or “C” which you think is more appropriate.
3. Membership ID
Membership ID of presenter will be required. If you forget it, please contact the society secretariat you belong.If you are a non-menber for Joint Keynote Symposium/Symposium, please input 「11」.
4. Languages
Title, author(s), affiliation(s), and abstract body must be entered in English. All presentations must be made in English as well.However, only oral presentations of Joint Young Scientist Session (Day 0) will be made in Japanese.
5. Length of Abstract
Abstract body should be written in English. Also, it is required to be less than 2,315 one-byte characters including title, author(s), affiliation(s), and body.6. Abstract Submission ID / Password
Please keep your abstract submission ID and password. You will need both of them when you need to make corrections to submitted information and abstract body. Please note that corrections can not be made after the deadline.7. Confirmation Notice of Abstract Submission
Notice will be sent to you by email when you complete abstract submission successfully.Please check your email box after the submission. If you do not receive the notice, you may have registered wrong email address or the abstract submission may not have been completed successfully.
In this case, please log in to check your registered email address and make corrections if it is necessary.
Please start over the abstract submission if your submission has not been completed successfully.
8. Edit / Withdrawal of Submitted Abstracts
You can edit / withdraw submitted abstracts via online with abstract submission ID and password only during the open period. You will receive the notice of edit / withdrawal by email when completed too.No edit / withdrawal is acceptable after the deadline.
9. Notice of Acceptance / Rejection
Notice will be sent to you by email in early April, 2012. We recommend you to register mail address other than free mail address. The notice may not be sent to you successfully if you register free mail address.10. Alphabetical notation of authors’ names
On the author index page, names of authors will be shown in alphabetical order by alphabetical notation of authors’ names which you enter at abstract submission.The names of one author cannot be shown consecutively in the index page, if the alphabetical notions of her / his name are entered differently.
3. Presentation type
Submitted abstracts for poster presentation are evaluated by the program committee and are selected for the platform presentation in the following 1)~4) presentation types.1) Joint Workshop

4) Joint Young Scientist Session (Japanese)

1) Joint Workshop
Joint workshop is a special session held in a large auditorium in order to promote active discussion between cell biologists and developmental biologists. Twenty-four of 15 minutes talks will be selected. Also, Young Presenters Award for Excellent Oral Presentation will be awarded to 4 excellent presentations which attract many scientists.Presentation Date:

Eligibility:
Applicants must be Non-Principal Investigator (Non-PI).Application procedure:
Submit your self-recommendation essay in addition to the abstract through the online abstract submission system (up to 1,000 bytes in length including Biography and Date of birth). If your research is collaborated with other students or researchers, please explain your role and contribution to the research in the essay.Self-recommendation essay can be entered in Japanese.
Choose “Joint Workshop” from the presentation type.
Acceptance / Rejection:
The program committee will make a selection for Joint Workshop. The selected abstracts will be presented as both oral and poster presentations (Day 1).For the papers, which are not selected for Joint Workshop, still have a chance to be selected for “Poster Flash Talk”or “regular Workshops”.
The abstracts selected for regular Workshops, will be presented as oral and poster presentations on Day 2 (Wednesday, May 30) or Day 3 (Thursday, May 31).
For the selection of regular Workshops, please choose your research field as 1st and 2nd choice from the Workshop / Poster Topics in the online abstract submission system. For those who do not wish to be selected for regular Workshops, please choose “00. Joint Poster Session at Day 1” as 1st and 2nd choice. Please refer the list of Workshop / Poster Topics below.
2) Poster Flash Talk
The papers which are regrettably not selected for Joint Workshop but selected at the second-selection, will be presented as Short Talk.This is a five-minutes talk for presenting essential background and key finding of a poster. As this Poste Flash Talk is scheduled right after Joint Keynote Symposium in the same room, this will be the great opportunity to make an appeal to them. The presenters of Poster Flash Talk are selected from the abstracts which are submitted to “Joint Workshop” by the program committee.

4) Joint Young Scientist Session (Japanese)
Young Japanese scientists submitting poster abstracts are able to apply for presentation in this session. FIfty-four of 10 minutes talks will be selected for oral presentation. Selected abstracts will be presented as both oral presentation in Japanese (Day 0) and poster presentation in English (Day 1).Note that those who submit to "Joint Young Scientist Session" are NOT able to apply for other oral presentations including the Joint Workshop (Day1), and other Workshops (Day 2-3).

2) Young Presenters Award for Excellent Poster Presentation
Among young scientists presenting posters at Day 1, Young Presenters Award will be given to those who make excellent poster presentations, which attract many scientists beyond the fields of research. Those who wish to be a candidate for this award should choose “Apply(Non-PI only)” for entry at the [Qualification for JSDB 45th & JSCB 64th Young Presenters Award for Excellent Poster/Oral Presentation] on the online abstract submission system.Presentation Date:
