Welcome Messages


The 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Developmental Biologists (JSDB) will be held during May 28-31, 2009 in TOKI MESSE of Niigata City.

Many scientists from universities, government, and public and private research institutions from around Japan and overseas will congregate at this meeting to present and discuss achievements made in the field of developmental biology. We are looking forward to seeing you on May 28-31, 2009 in Niigata.

  Official Language  

 English will be the official conference language, and no simultaneous translation will be provided. The Satellite Workshops and Public lectures will be held in Japanese.

  Registrations  

 Advanced Registration is no longer available. Please register at the conference venue. (On-site registration is available throughout the conference period.)

  Registration Fee (On-site) (JPY)  

 General JSDB/ISDB/APDBN members:¥8,000 (early ¥7,000)
 Student JSDB/ISDB/APDBN members:¥5,000 (early ¥4,000)
 General Non-members:¥9,000 (early ¥8,500)
 Student Non-members:¥6,000 (early ¥5,000)
 *Registration includes access to all scientific sessions and exhibits.
 *Students should provide the name and affiliation of their supervisor.
 *The registration fee and mixer fee will be waived for students attending the conference from overseas.

  Payment  

 All payment must be made in Japanese yen, by credit card or by bank draft, payable to "The 42nd Annual Meeting of the JSDB". Please send payment with the completed registration form to the secretariat. No checks or money orders will be accepted. All bank charges are to be borne by the remitter.

  Name Tags  

 Name tags will be sent to advance registrants, or will be provided at the time of registration. Participants are requested to wear their name tags at all times during the conference.

  Lunch  

 Lunch boxes are available (¥800~¥1,000). At the luncheon seminar, a limited number of free lunch boxes will be provided by sponsor.

  Refreshments and Internet Access  

 Complimentary refreshments will be available in Conference Room 303. Internet access will be available in Conference Room 303 (LAN cables will be provided).

Taxi tickets (for sharing taxies) will be provided at the time of moving (the end of poster session) at the taxi terminal on the 1st floor of Toki Messe.

Instruction for Presentations


  Oral Presentations  

  We accept data from flash memory, CD-ROM, or PC at the PC Preview desk (2F). Registrations for oral presentation starts at this desk from 2:00 pm, May 28th for all conference presentations. Presenting with your own computer is also possible. If you will be using your own computer, please come to your session room at least 30 mins. prior to your presentation. For Macintosh computers and certain kinds of Windows computers, please provide your own adapter for connecting your computer to the projector. Slide projectors or overhead projectors will not be available.
 Workshops: 14 mins. presentation and 4 mins. discussion
 Satellite Workshops: 12 mins. presentation and 3 mins. discussion

  Poster Presentations  

 Poster size: 120 cm (width) x 150 cm (height)
 Posting: May 29th, 8:30 - 9:30 (all posters)
 Presentation times: A group, May 29th, 16:15 - 17:15
 B group, May 29th, 17:15 - 18.15
 C group, May 30th, 16:15 - 17:15
 D group, May 30th, 17:15 - 18:15
 Removal: May 31st, 8:30 - 9:30 (all posters)

 Please leave a 20 x 10 cm blank space at the top left corner for the organizing committee to assign your poster number.
 During your assigned poster presentation time, please remain in the vicinity of your poster for explanation.
 Best Poster Awards will be selected for the top three posters. The awards will be selected by participants (Principal Investigators only) and will be announced at the Mixer on Saturday, May 30th. The method for voting will be posted in the meeting.

  Chairpersons  

  All chairpersons are requested to come to their assigned session rooms at least 30 mins. prior to the start of time they will be chairing.
