平成18年度より、国の予算に女性研究者支援関連事業費が充当され、科学技術分野での男女共同参画が推進されつつある。一方で、いわゆるポスドク問題にも関心が高まり、国の予算にも若手研究者支援のためのテニュアトラックやイノベーション創出人材育成などの施策が盛り込まれるようになった。本ワークショップオーガナイザーの田中仁夫自身も博士研究員のキャリアパス問題に取り組むべく大学発ベンチャーでの起業を行っている。このような問題に取り組むためには、まず正確な現状の把握と認識が必要である。 平成19年度、理工系の学会の集まりである男女共同参画学協会連絡会によって行われた科学技術系専門職の男女共同参画実態調査のための大規模アンケートでは、発生学会会員の皆様に積極的にご回答いただいた(正式加盟学会中では回答率が1位!)。集計を担当された幹事学会の生物物理学会によれば、この調査により現状における男女共同参画およびポスドク問題の様々な問題が浮き彫りにされたそうである。集計という大変な役割を担当された豊島陽子先生から、この問題にフォーカスしたお話をいただく。 一方文部科学省科学技術政策研究所では、平成17年度にポスドク雇用状況調査を行ったが、この年ポスドクとして雇用されたのは1万5496人であり、そのうち女性の割合は21.4%であることが分かった。この調査を担当された三浦有紀子先生から、ポスドクの現状とその問題点についてお伺いしたい。 短い時間ではあるが、参加者を含めて活発な論議をいただき、これらの問題について考える機会になればと期待している。 1. 「はじめに」 野呂 知加子 (日本大学) 2. 「男女共同参画およびポスドク問題について; 科学技術系専門職の男女共同参画実態調査のためのアンケート結果より」 東京大学大学院総合文化研究科 広域科学専攻生命環境科学系 豊島 陽子 3. 「博士号取得者のキャリアパス」 社団法人日本物理学会キャリア支援センター 三浦 有紀子 (予定) 4. 「ディスカッションと総括」 田中 仁夫(徳島大学) |

1. サカナの異常から見えてくる人の病気 |

サカナと人間は外見は違うけれど、同じ脊椎動物であり、循環器系、消化器系、神経系、運動系など多くの部分で共通のシステムをもっています。熱帯魚として親しまれているゼブラフィッシュは生物学研究に有用で、遺伝病をもつもの(変異体)が多数あります。中には見た目には正常だけれど、運動機能に異常のあるものもあり、研究により神経や筋の異常が見つかります。これらの異常は人の遺伝性の神経疾患や筋疾患と同じものであり、サカナの研究から人の難病が見えてくるのです。 |
2. シマウマはなぜ縞を持っているのか? |

動物には、きれいな模様を持っているものがたくさんいますが、なぜだと思いますか?例えばシマウマの縞模様。どう見ても目立ちすぎです。あれじゃ、ライオンに直ぐに見つかってしまいます。「縞模様は目くらましになる!」という説明もあるのですが、野生を紹介するTVを見ている限りでは、役に立っているようには見えません。では、どうやって縞模様は進化してきたのでしょう?さて、ここで天才数学者チューリングが登場します。彼は1952年に「動物の皮膚模様は波である」という驚くべき仮説を出しました。そして50年後、皮膚模様が本当に「波」であることが証明されました。チューリングの理論を使えば、シマウマがなぜ縞模様を持っているのかがわかります。そのアッと驚く答えは、、、、、、会場で。 |
3. クロマグロ完全養殖への挑戦 |

日本人が利用しているマグロは5種あり、中でもクロマグロは海のダイヤとも呼ばれ、大きさ、味覚、市場価格共に最高位を誇る。しかしマグロ類中での漁獲割合は僅か1.8%にすぎない。 私共はこの貴重で希少な本種に注目して1970年から増養殖の研究を開始した。本種は酸素要求量が大きく、皮膚が脆弱で稚魚期には共喰が激しく光や音などの刺戟に敏感で、その上濁水にも弱く、飼育の極めて困難な魚種である。私共はこれらの困難を克服して1979年初めて生簀内での産卵に成功し、2002年6月には実に32年の歳月を要したが、世界で初めて本種の「完全養殖」に成功した。さらに2007年6月にはこの完全養殖から生まれた子供が5年経ち親魚となって産卵を開始し、人工ふ化クロマグロ第3世代が誕生した。 |
